Intellivision Reveals more Amico Launch Details
In the 1970’s, Mattel gave Atari a run for its money with the Intellivision console. Fast forward to 2021 and the battle is on once again.
Intellivision Amico
In 2016, the Atari brand was revived and a brand new console was teased. What ended up as the Atari VCS includes a pretty steep price point of $399 and has yet to be released to the public, but already has stiff competition with the Intellivision Amico, a brand new console that takes a nostalgic approach to playing video games.
Intellivision has announced a new release date of October 10th, 2021. While the device has been delayed more than once, the word is that assembly is well underway and the newly-announced release date will stick.
Intellivision Amico Controllers. The console supports up to eight
Intellivision Amico comes with two controllers but can utilize up to eight and will come pre-loaded with six games: Intellivision Skiing, Cornhole, Farkle, Astrosmash (a fan favorite during the original heyday of the brand), Shark! Shark!, and one title that is yet to be announced.
The console, which mimics the look of the original, will be released in four colors; Graphite Black, Glacier White, Vintage Woodgrain (limited edition), GTO Red (limited edition), and Galaxy Purple (Gamestop exclusive and limited edition). The price depends on the version customers purchase. Customers can choose Graphite Black or Glacier White for $249, Vintage Woodgrain for $279, and finally Galaxy Purple or GTO Red for $299.
Games on the Amico Game Shop with retail for between $2.99 and $9.99. In addition, special edition versions of some games will be released through brick and mortar stores for a retail price of $17.99.
If all of that isn’t enough, skin packs will be available for the controllers as well as a console bag and additional controllers.
All of this will be available on the launch date of October 10th, 2021.
