Alexey Pajitnov and Tetris; Love at First Sight

In 1985, Alexey Pajitnov was hard at work at the Dorodnitsyn Computing Centre in Moscow, when he had an idea for a game that would put his favorite puzzle game, Pentonimo, on the computer screen. In what ultimately became Tetris, started out as a basic tech demo, but Alexey knew from the start that he was onto something;

“When the very first program version started to breathe, what I call; when the first pieces appeared on the screen and became controllable, that was very fascinating.”
