Anticipation Rises For ‘Until Dawn’ PS4

There has been some delay, but Supermassive Games have finally announced a release date of August 26th for the indie horror Until Dawn.

The game’s story is basically like every Hollywood horror film… Ever. Eight friends, trapped in a conveniently abandoned mountainside retreat (sounding familiar yet?) who begin to suspect they’re not alone. There are even big names such as Hayden Panettiere casted, as if you weren’t feeling the B-rated genre enough.

However, the perhaps less than original storyline does have a redeeming and intriguing feature that we haven’t seen in a horror game before: each decision you make throughout the game will impact severly on your and your friends survival. The coined ‘Butterfly-Effect’ is going to play a major role here, as even insignificant choices can change the whole outlook of your game – they’ve implemented autosave too, so there’s no going back. You’ll play it out to the (probably quite bloody) end in the search for answers, having the opportunity to play as all of the eight characters with thousands of possible divergants of the story.

Until Dawn is exclusive to PlayStation 4, although it was originally supposed to come out on PS3 with Move compatibility. I think it is going to work in their favour though, because when you’re on a mountain, trying to save yourself and your friends from a murdering psycopath, the last thing you want is for PlayStation Move technology to drag you right back out of the atmosphere… Sorry, Sony, but it’s true.

So, look forward to this horror which is available for preorder now on PS4 in August.
